New, authentic Irish pub opens in Orlando neighborhood

A new Irish pub in College Park celebrated its grand opening this week.

The Castle Irish Pub and Restaurant officially opened for business at 2625 Edgewater Drive on Monday. The new restaurant replaces Thai Farm Kitchen, which closed its doors last September.

The pub is owned and operated by Shane, Katie, and Paul Hoyne. According to their website, the Hoynes have been “running pubs for hundreds of years” dating back to the family’s roots in Kilkenny in the southeast end of Ireland.

“Our great grandparents ran a thriving pub/grocers/hardware store in our hometown of Thomastown. Providing hospitality is in our DNA. Our mission is to provide legendary Irish hospitality to each of our guests that comes through our doors,” reads a statement from the company’s website.

The new restaurant features an entire bar that was built by a well-known pub designer to “represent a True Authentic Irish pub in Orlando.”

The Castle’s menu features a bevy of authentic Irish cuisine, including favorites like Kilmore quay chowder, shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and even Irish soda bread.

The new restaurant joins an ever-changing slate of businesses in College Park.

Earlier this year, Freehand Goods opened a new apparel and merchandise shop at the former location of El Vic’s Indian Cuisine, and The Current Seafood Counter opened its second location.

Additionally, Honolulu Harry’s opened a new location in the area last year, and Pizza Bruno is nearing the one-year anniversary of its College Park location.

The Castle Irish Pub and Restaurant will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
