DeLand Fire Department crews were called to three separate incidents within a few hours of each other, including two vehicle rollovers that required extrication.
All three incidents took place on Sunday, October 1, with the first occurring at 12:20 p.m. According to DFD, units responded to W. New York Avenue and S. Spring Garden Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found a person trapped inside one vehicle.
That person had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital. Another person that was involved in the accident was not taken to the hospital.
A few hours later, emergency personnel were called to another motor vehicle accident. In the second incident, a car had rolled over near the intersection of S. Spring Garden Avenue and W. Euclid Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a woman trapped in a sport utility vehicle. The firefighters worked to extricate the woman from the vehicle and she was transported to a local hospital.
Just a few minutes before the second accident, firefighters responded to a home in the 300 block of Blue Crystal Drive after reports of a fire. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy black smoke coming from the garage of a single-family residence.
Firefighters cleared the inside of the home and the fire was contained to the garage. All of the occupants of the home were out of the residence at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
