Promod Chandra Gayen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023, in Winter Garden, Florida. He was born on January 2, 1937, in Gopal Gung, India. Promode leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and selflessness that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Promod was a proud and devoted husband to his beloved wife Dorothy Gayen for an astounding 62 years. Their love story began in 1956 when they met at Biriathu SDA Church. In 1961, they joined their lives in marriage and were blessed with three wonderful children: Minu Settie, Binu Sigamni, and Pradip Gayen. Promod found immense joy in being a grandfather to Steven and Priya Sigamni, Kristina and Konnor Settie, and Tiffany Gayen. His love for his family knew no bounds.
Throughout his life, Promod was known for his hospitable nature and kindness towards others. Anyone who visited his home was warmly welcomed with open arms and a full belly. His generosity knew no bounds as he ensured that everyone left with not only a satisfied stomach but also a heart filled with happiness.
Promod found solace in his faith as an active member of the local Seventh-Day Adventist churches. He played an instrumental role at the Winter Garden Seventh-Day Adventist Church as a founding member and with prior time at Tacoma Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he served as a Deacon. His devotion to God was unwavering and served as an inspiration to all who knew him.
Education held great importance to Promod. He studied economics at Sunxavier College in India before moving with his family to the United States. There he briefly pursued studies in accounting while working tirelessly to provide for his loved ones.
Not only was Promod a dedicated family man, but he also found joy in various hobbies and interests. Gardening brought him peace and allowed him to witness the beauty of nature firsthand. Home improvement projects were endeavors he embarked on with enthusiasm and dedication, transforming his house into a warm and welcoming haven. Playing solitaire was a pastime that provided him moments of relaxation and introspection. Above all, Promode cherished spending time with his grandchildren, showering them with love and creating priceless memories together. As an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching games and cheering for his favorite teams.
Promod Gayen’s proudest accomplishments encompassed both personal and professional milestones. The happiness of his family was his ultimate goal, and seeing them flourish brought him unparalleled joy. Moving his family to the United States was a milestone that filled him with pride, offering them new opportunities and a bright future.
Promod’s journey came full circle when he played an integral part in the creation and development of Windermere Seventh-Day Adventist Church. His passion for his faith was translated into action as he wholeheartedly contributed to the growth of this spiritual sanctuary.
Promod Chandra Gayen is survived by his wife Dorothy Gayen, his children Minu Settie, Binu Sigamni, Pradip Gayen, his grandchildren Steven Sigamni, Priya Sigamni, Kristina Settie, Konnor Settie, Tiffany Gayen, as well as extended family members and countless friends whose lives he touched immeasurably.
A visitation will be held on December 11, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Highland Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, located at 3329 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703. The funeral service will commence at 11:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 12:45 p.m.
