Local firefighters were able to salvage a collection of Christmas gifts after a fire tore through an attic at a home in DeLand this weekend.
Members of the DeLand Fire Department and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at 920 Elsasser Avenue on Saturday, December 9.
Upon arrival, firefighters began attacking a fire that started in the attic of the home and “was quickly spreading,” according to a social media post from the Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association.
Crews were able to suppress the fire in a matter of minutes and prevent it from spreading and causing more damage.
While they were subduing the fire, emergency personnel were able to salvage some of the Christmas presents that were in the house.
