A mother from Brazil that is suing Universal Orlando for over $50,000 in damages claims she sustained “permanent” injuries after falling off the Dr. Seuss ride.
The lawsuit was filed by attorneys representing Juliana Asquino and her husband, Rafael, against University City Development Partners LTD in the ninth judicial circuit court for Orange County on Friday, December 8.
In the complaint, the couple alleges that they were visiting Universal Islands of Adventure with their daughter on June 14, 2022.
During their visit, Mrs. Asquino says she was “dismounting from ‘a beast'” at the “Carro-Seuss-El ride” when she fell “due to the negligent design of the” ride.
“There were no warning signs advising of the dangerous condition and/or falling hazard,” reads the complaint.
The lawsuit goes on to allege that as a result of the alleged fall, Mrs. Asquino sustained “severe personal injuries” that are “permanent and continuing in nature.”
In addition to one count of negligence, the lawsuit also claims two counts of loss of consortium on behalf of Mr. Asquino and the couple’s daughter. The complaint alleges that the daughter was “transported to the hospital with her mother on the day of the accident and suffered severe emotional trauma.”
