An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with the murder of another teen during a home invasion in Orlando.
Shawn Patrick Spencer III was arrested on Monday in connection with the homicide of Kevin Dewayne Hodges. Hodges, who was also 18 years old, was found by Orlando Police Department officers at the Jernigan Gardens apartments on January 30, at around 1:14 p.m.
During that incident, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the apartments, which are located in the 1400 block of Mercy Drive. Upon arrival, they found Hodges suffering from a gunshot wound in the breezeway of one of the buildings.
Hodges was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
During their investigation, police determined that the shooting began as an armed robbery home invasion that led to the resident firing at the suspect.
Spencer has been charged with homicide while engaged in burglary, as well as armed burglary of a dwelling with a firearm in connection with the shooting.
