Skydiver killed after ‘hard landing’ in DeLand

DeLand police are conducting an investigation after a man was killed in a skydiving accident on Monday afternoon.

At around 2:25 p.m., the DeLand Police Department responded to the DeLand Municipal Airport (1000 Flight Lane Boulevard) after receiving reports that a male skydiver had suffered a “hard landing.”

The skydiver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The police department stated that the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

No further details were provided by DeLand police.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
