A 22-year-old man was arrested by Casselberry police after he allegedly stole a firearm from a local gun shop.
On Tuesday, April 9, the Casselberry Police Department was notified that a man had just stolen a gun from Shoot Straight located at 4700 S U.S. Highway 17-92, according to the police department.
Shortly after CPD officers arrived at the store, they located the male suspect nearby. He was later identified as Brendan Ogarro.
CPD stated that Ogarro “refused to comply with commands” that were given by the officers on scene. He then attempted to flee from the officers on foot.
After a brief pursuit, the officers caught up to Ogarro and apprehended him. The firearm was also recovered and returned to Shoot Straight.
“Due to the quick actions and teamwork of our officers and neighboring agencies removing a stolen gun off the streets, the City of Casselberry remains a safe place to live, work, and enjoy,” stated the Casselberry Police Department in a social media post.
Ogarro was arrested and transported to Seminole County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $4,000 bond. He is being charged with grand theft of firearm, resisting an officer without violence (two counts), and providing false identification to a law enforcement officer.
Ogarro is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, according to Seminole County Jail records.
