An 18-year-old Orlando woman was killed on Thursday evening after she was struck by an SUV in Orange County.
At around 8:40 p.m., a 2003 Nissan Xterra was traveling eastbound on Old Winter Garden Road, to the west of the Buena Vista Avenue intersection, in Orlando, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The report stated that the woman was standing in the eastbound inside lane on Old Winter Garden Road, in the direct path of the SUV. She was not in a marked crosswalk.
The front of the SUV proceeded to strike the woman. The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured and remained at the scene of the collision.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name was not released by FHP.
A trooper noted in the report that the crash remains under investigation.
