A 20-year-old man from Oviedo was killed on Friday afternoon after his motorcycle struck the side of a car that was turning into the entrance of a Seminole County neighborhood.
The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of Fort Christmas Road and Killaloe Terrace on Friday, April 19, shortly after 3:30 p.m.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Fort Christmas Road, approaching the intersection of Killaloe Terrace, on a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
A 38-year-old Orlando woman (driver) and 63-year-old man from Illinois (passenger) were traveling in front of the motorcycle on Fort Christmas Road, near the same intersection, in a 2019 Toyota Prius.
FHP stated that the motorcycle entered the oncoming lane to pass traffic. At the same time, the Toyota began turning left onto Killaloe Terrace.
The motorcycle proceeded to enter the direct path of the Toyota, and a collision ensued. A trooper noted that the front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the car.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name was not released by FHP.
The Toyota’s two occupants were not injured, and they remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
