Samuel Nelson

Brother Samuel Nelson was a dedicated, hard-working, and family-oriented individual who led a faith-filled life.

Brother Nelson, 92, of Orlando, Florida passed peacefully on April 17, 2024. He was born on September 23, 1931 in Cavaliers, St. Andrews, Jamaica, W.I and migrated to Brooklyn, New York in the late 1960s. He worked as an accountant prior to retiring to Orlando, Florida in the early 2000s.

Brother Nelson was a devoted Christian who cherished his Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He attended Grace Bible Church of Central Florida and took solace in knowing the Lord was watching over him. He was an active member who enjoyed worshiping through singing and lent his tenor voice to the Grace Bible Church choir. And he enthusiastically opened his home to lead a men’s Bible study or a friendly night of playing dominos.

He took comfort in his favorite scripture: “The Lord is [his] shepherd; [he] shall not want…” Psalms 23. And with his favorite song “Great is Thy Faithfulness” he lived a life truly dependent on God: “Morning by morning new mercies [he] see’ all [he] has needed Thy hand hath provided: great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto [him]! His Christian values informed every aspect of his life and molded him into the beloved person he was. Even in death, he was at peace knowing that God was carrying him home.

Brother Nelson loved the Lord, his family, and his church. His one desire is that all will come to know God and accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josette Nelson, of 60 years, who he will meet again in heaven. He is survived by his children Dennis Nelson and Theresa Nelson-Smith, brother Richmond Nelson, and numerous grand and great grand-children who know their father will be waiting for them in the afterlife.
