Edward Charles McMullen died peacefully at home on May 3 rd , 2026 in Winter Garden, Florida at the age of 81 from pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Amy, his sister Sheri Dawson, his brother Wayne (Lisa) McMullen, 5 brothers-in-law and their wives, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ed was born on November 10 th , 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Phyllis (Scherrer) and Edward A McMullen. The family moved around the Midwest and after a stint in the army, he settled in New Jersey, where he graduated from Monmouth College and worked for Western Electric/Bell Labs/AT&T. He met his wife Amy and they were married in June of 1982. In 1987, Ed took a new job with AT&T, which brought them to Florida.
They lived in Windermere for 25 years before moving to Winter Garden. After over 35 years, Ed retired from AT&T, but immediately took a job as an analyst for Gartner Group. In 2002, he retired from full-time work. For the last 10 years, he worked part-time delivering prescriptions for Medicine Maxx Pharmacy. This may have been his most favorite job of all. He considered that job his ministry. He loved his customers and looked forward to seeing and talking with them each day.
Ed attended First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden. He was a proud member of Winter Garden Lodge, F&AM #142, and a past master of Mystic Brotherhood Lodge in Red Bank, NJ. Ed loved working with his hands building and fixing things, cooking, and gardening. He completed the Master Gardener training program through the UF extension program. Most of all he loved God and his beloved wife.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Winter Garden. A Masonic Service will be held directly before at 2:15 p.m., also at the church. All are welcome to attend both services and celebrate Ed’s life. A reception will follow the services.
