Unwieldy burn pile nearly spreads to Winter Springs residence

Fire crews were able to get a burn pile fire under control after it became unwieldy and nearly burned a residence in Winter Springs.

On Friday, January 6, Seminole County Fire Department crews were called to a home on Tuskawilla Road in Winter Springs after receiving calls regarding a fire.

According to authorities, a burn pile in the backyard of a residence grew too quickly and spread to palm trees and a fence around the residence.

Crews were able to put out the fire and prevent it from moving to any residential structures nearby.

The fire caused Tuskawilla Road to be shut down for a short time on Friday.
