The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Parade will return to downtown Orlando this weekend.
The parade will take place on Saturday, January 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning at the Orange County Courthouse, which is located at 425 North Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando.
Hosted by the Southwest Orlando Jaycees, the theme for the 39th installment of the parade is “It Starts with Me: Cultivating a Beloved Community Mindset to Break the Cycle of Injustice.” The parade will feature a record number of participants and is expected to draw 8,000 spectators, according to event organizers.
Entries and floats will march through downtown Orlando’s Orange Avenue, with $500 being awarded to the “Best Overall Float.” That float will be judged “in accordance with the theme in the areas of originality, personality, most creative, and most colorful,” according to event organizers.
