Over 100 rodent droppings found in closure of pizzeria near downtown Orlando

A popular pizzeria near downtown Orlando was forced to temporarily close its doors after a food health inspector cited over 100 rodent droppings and other code violations during a recent visit.

The Original Anthony’s Pizza, which is located at 1206 E Colonial Drive, was forced to temporarily close on Wednesday, January 11, after failing a health inspection by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

During the visit, the health inspector cited at least 10 health code violations, with three considered high priority.

Among the violations cited was the presence of rodent droppings. In total, the health inspector found at least 103 rodent droppings in various places around the restaurant, including behind a dough mixer, under a sink, and on a prep table.

Additionally, multiple items were held at temperatures greater than permissible, including eggplant parmesan, chicken parmesan, and sliced mozzarella cheese. Foods must be refrigerated at 41 degree Fahrenheit or cooler.

The restaurant was permitted to reopen on Thursday, January 12, after an inspector found only four remaining violations.
