31-year-old singer killed in Casselberry shooting, police looking for suspects

A 31-year-old singer was killed in Casselberry this past weekend and the police are asking the public for help to identify and locate his killer.

Dereck Lavon Cummings, who performed under the stage name “Antwaun Miles,” was found dead on Saturday, January 28, by Casselberry Police Department officers after authorities received reports regarding an early morning shooting.

According to statement from authorities, CPD officers and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Carrington Park Condominiums at 2520 Caper Lane in Casselberry at around 5:30 a.m. that morning.

Upon arrival, officers found damage to a vehicle, with shell casings nearby. A deceased individual, who has since been identified as Cummings, was found a short distance away.

Law enforcement authorities believe that the shooting occurred between Cummings and someone that was known to him.

No further information has been released in the case.

In the days since the fatal shooting occurred, friends and family have taken to share their thoughts on the tragic passing of Cummings, who turned 31 in November.

“The pain will never go away. Waking up everyday knowing my brother not here no more hurt so bad,” reads a social media post from Cummings’ sister Hailey Moore.

“I’m praying and asking God to heal me and bring me peace cause I can’t see life without you here, man. You were more than my cousin, you are my brother,” reads a statement from Cummings’ cousin.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
