Students, teachers safe after Apopka High School goes under lockdown

There were no reported injuries after an incident reported to police forced the lockdown of Apopka High School yesterday morning.

On Tuesday, January 31, Apopka High School, which is located at 555 Martin Street, was temporarily placed under lockdown after a suspicious incident was reported.

According to police, a student on campus overheard or observed a discussion that was perceived to be a threat to the school. That student reported the incident to school administrators.

As a result of the student’s report, the school was placed on a lockdown status while school resource officers, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and Apopka Police Department officers conducted an investigation.

The involved students were eventually identified and police say that all students and staff were safe.

The incident follows months of similar incidents that have been reported at schools across Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties.
