Four-way stop approved for Orange County intersection after citizen reports safety concerns

Orange County officials approved the conversion of a local intersection to a multi-way stop after a citizen expressed concerns about safety.

During the Tuesday, May 10 meeting of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, officials approved a request to establish a multi-way stop at the intersection of Washington Street and King Avenue in Zellwood.

According to county records, after a citizen expressed concerns regarding the intersections safety, the district’s Traffic Engineering department conducted an evaluation of the existing conditions. That included a study of traffic volumes, pedestrian volumes, and crash history.

Based on the department’s findings, county staff recommended the existing two-way stop control be converted.

The conversion was approved as part of the commission’s consent agenda.
