City of Orlando poetry contest for poets, writers of all ages

The city of Orlando is looking for submissions from poets and writers of all ages for its Words and Wonders Poetry Contest.

The city is encouraging all residents across Central Florida to submit written and spoken word poetry about this year’s theme: Food.

Poems should be original works, no longer than twelves lines if written, or three minutes if spoken, and may include free verse, rhymes, or whatever suits the writer’s vision of the poem. Inspiration photos may be included but are not required.

Writers of all ages are welcome, with all writers under 18 asked to list their age upon entry. The challenge is open to residents of Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties.

Winners will be announced the week of August 8 through the city of Orlando’s social media channels. Each winner will receive a custom Words & Wonders journal and thank you letter from Mayor Buddy Dyer.

For more information or to submit a work, visit the Words and Wonders Poetry Contest entry submission page.
