Orlando Police Department names officer of the year

The Orlando Police Department selected its officer of the year during its first quarter awards ceremony on Wednesday.

Kelvin Wilson-Bey, of the Patrol Services Bureau, was named the Officer of the Year for his “devoted commitment to reducing violent crime in the city of Orlando,” according to a statement issued by OPD.

Over the past year, Wilson-Bey has written over 100 incident reports, conducted nearly 1,000 traffic stops, recovered 24 guns related to crimes, and seized over 16 pounds of illegal drugs and nearly $4,000 in currency.

In addition, Wilson-Bey was awarded the Patrol Services Bureau of the Year. As a result, he will now patrol the streets in the “Officer of the Year” vehicle.

“Congratulations Officer Wilson-Bey. Thank you for your proactive efforts that have led to a direct impact in the reduction of violent crime in our city,” reads the statement.
