A 73-year-old man was killed after he was struck and run over while he was attempting to cross the Florida Turnpike last night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place near mile marker 247 on State Road 91 in Kissimmee on Tuesday, March 28 at approximately 8:55 p.m.
The man, who was from Kissimmee, was walking southbound in the roadway while in the northbound lanes when he was struck by a Jeep Patriot being driven by a 46-year-old woman from Fort Lauderdale.
After the man was struck, he was thrown into the inside lane and was run over by a Chevrolet Cruze being driven by a 23-year-old Davenport woman.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The drivers of both cars, as well as several passengers, received minor injuries in the crash.
