Baby delivered on Frontier Airlines flight en route to Orlando

A baby was delivered on a Frontier flight en route to Orlando after a mother unexpectedly went into labor mid-trip.

According to the company, the birth took place on a flight from Denver International Airport to Orlando International Airport. The mother, whose name was not released, was aided by flight attendant Diana Giraldo.

Giraldo helped the mother into the back lavatory and assisted while she was giving birth, according to Frontier.

“Diana again went above and beyond after the completion of the flight to coordinate our return to Orlando,” said Captain Chris Nye. Nye described Giraldo’s effort as “calm” and “exemplary.” Nye credited the entire crew for their quick actions, including the dispatcher who suggested Pensacola Airport and got a gate ready with paramedics.

“This was a job well done, and I was happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an aircraft” said Nye.

According to the company, the mother designated the baby’s middle name as Sky to honor the circumstances and aircraft on which she was born, which features a plane tail with a picture of a mother and her wolf (“Luna and Lilly the Wolves”).
