Vietnamese restaurant closes after roaches, improperly stored food found during inspection

A Vietnamese restaurant in Seminole County was forced to temporarily close its doors after consecutive failed health inspections revealed live roaches and food being stored at improper temperatures.

Never Phoget: A Taste of Vietnam, which is located at 505 SR 436 in Casselberry, temporarily closed its restaurant on Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16, after failing two health inspections conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

During the first visit on May 15, the inspector cited at least 25 health code violations, including 6 considered high priority.

Among the high priority violations was the presence of roaches, as evidenced by at least 16 roaches that were found around the restaurant. During the inspection, at least 10 roaches were found in the cook line area, while another 4 were found in a preparation area.

Additionally, a stop sale was issued for multiple foods that were held at improper temperatures, including chicken and shrimp that were both being held at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Food is required to be stored at temperatures less than 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

During another visit on the following day, May 16, the inspector cited at least 14 health code violations. The follow-up inspection turned up more roach activity after two roaches were found under a reach-in freezer, and three under a cook line cooler.

The restaurant was reinspected again on May 16 and was permitted to reopen after only 10 violations remained.
