Gunman arrested after incident shuts roadways in DeLand

A couple of roadways in DeLand were temporarily shut down on Wednesday after officers responded to an incident involving a man with a gun inside of a vehicle.

Multiple units from the DeLand Police Department and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area near Beresford Avenue and Florida Avenue on Wednesday, May 31, at around 2 p.m. in reference to a man with a gun.

At the time of the incident, police secured the area and shut down nearby roadways.

At 2:30 p.m., police were able to take the gunman into custody without incident. The man, who was not identified by police, was treated by an EMT at the scene.
