Brick and Fire temporarily closes after second failed health inspection this year

Brick and Fire was forced to temporarily close its pizzeria for the second time in two months last week after a health inspector cited over a dozen violations, including the presence of insect and rodent activity.

According to a report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the restaurant, which is located at 1621 S Orange Avenue, was temporarily closed on Monday, May 16 after a health inspector cited a total of 13 violations.

Four of the violations were considered high priority, including the presence of rodent activity as evidenced by 14 rat droppings found around various parts of the kitchen. As a result of the rodent activity, the health inspector forced a stop sale on items made with corn meal and flour after finding gnaw marks on bags containing those ingredients.

The restaurant was permitted to reopen the following day after only a half dozen violations remained.

The closure is the second for the business in as many months, after failing a health inspection on March 15 due to 19 health code violations. During that violation, rodent activity was also cited, as evidenced by nearly 70 rodent droppings found around the kitchen and appliances. The business was also permitted to reopen the following day after corrections were made.
