Osceola officials break ground on new fire station

Osceola County officials broke ground today on a new fire station that will be built on Boggy Creek Road in the coming year.

The groundbreaking for Osceola County Fire Rescue Station 67 took place this morning, Thursday, May 26, at the site of the new station next to Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. According to Ricky Booth, Osceola County Commissioner for District 5, the new station is strategically located to address the growth and development that county has experienced over the past several years.

“This brings our current station count to 16, which is the most fire stations Osceola county has had serving the community in its unincorporated area since the beginning of the department back in 1989,” said Booth. The last time the county built a new location was the Reunion Fire Station #73 in 2017.

The station will feature four bays for vehicles, as well as 12,000 square feet of space, including an expanded community room that will be open to the public and will be used as a polling location by the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections. The building was designed to withstand hurricanes and features state-of-the-art equipment.

Booth and staff hope that construction of the station will be completed by the summer of 2023.

“We are committed to the safety and the security of our community and to our firefighters. We just want to make our community safer,” said Booth.
