Friends mourn loss of man killed in hit-and-run, offer reward for information

Friends are mourning the loss of Clinton Welch, who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Osteen, and are offering a reward for any information to help find those involved.

Welch’s body was discovered lying in the road near the intersection of Lemon Bluff Road and State Road 415 on Sunday, May 22, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

A 58-year-old DeBary man driving a 2019 Ford Mustang discovered Welch’s body after he swerved to avoid him in the roadway and partially ran him over.

Authorities believe Welch was hit earlier in the morning by an unidentified vehicle.

Welch, who was 42, worked a variety of jobs including as cook at the popular Kate O’Brien’s Irish Pub. Later in life, Welch moved to Osteen and, most recently, was working as a cook at Gators Riverside Grille in Sanford.

The owners of Gators are offering a $5,000 REWARD for information leading to a conviction. Call Florida Highway Patrol at 386-736-5350 or contact CRIMELINE at 407-737-2213.
