Biscuit and chicken chain opening 1st location in Central Florida

A popular southern biscuit and chicken restaurant that got its start in Durham, North Carolina will open its first restaurant in the state of Florida in Winter Park this weekend.

Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken will officially open for business at Lakeside Crossing on Saturday, August 12. The business, which is located at 110 S Orlando Avenue, will host an official grand opening celebration on September 9, according to its website.

As Orlando-News.com previously reported, the company currently has plans to build seven franchises in the state of Florida, with the Winter Park location being the first.

The new business will join Bulla, Chuy’s, and Sixty Vines at the shopping plaza.

The Winter Park establishment is owned by Don Schnurr, who hopes to create other locations in Winter Garden, Celebration, and The Mall at Millenia.

Rise will take a technologically enhanced approach to delivering its food, using a heated locker system and a touchscreen ordering kiosk to provide an entirely digital kitchen experience.

As its name suggests, the restaurant chain serves southern biscuits and chicken sandwiches. Accompanying sides include cheddar tots and donuts with flavors like maple bacon and Cheerwine.

“We expect to grow the greater Orlando area to 20 locations over the next five years,” Schnurr said in a press statement earlier from last year. “We have an aggressive growth plan in place, coupled with experienced operators and funding necessary to accomplish this growth.”

According to the company, the Winter Park location is expected to open in early operate from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
