Osceola officials break ground on new fire station

Osceola officials broke ground on a new fire station this week, just over a month after celebrating the opening of another station in the county.

On Monday, August 14, Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington and several fire and government officials gathered on Cypress Parkway to break ground on Station 85, which will be located next to the Vista Del Sol Apartments in Kissimmee.

According to the county, the new station will allow officials to move existing county units from a station within Polk County to a more efficient location in Osceola County.

“We recognize that the foundation of a thriving community lies in ensuring the safety of its members. This relocation reaffirms our commitment to this principle and exemplifies a proactive approach to achieving it,” said Arrington during the ceremony.

In late June, county officials unveiled Austin-Tindall Station 67, which is located at 4150 Boggy Creek Road, near Austin Tindell Park in District 5. Ground was broken on that fire station in May 2022.

“Station 67, along with the other stations we have built and will build, marks a commitment to action to protect lives and property when our community calls,” said Osceola County Fire Chief Larry Collier at the time of the opening in June.

In addition to Station 67 and Station 85, the county is currently in the midst of constructing another new fire station near Calypso Cay. Construction of that fire station should be completed later this summer. Plans are also underway to build multiple other stations as well.
