Yveline Gousse

Yveline ‘Fifi’ Gousse transitioned to the spiritual realm to be with our creator and ancestors, on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 1:30pm EST. Yveline Gousse was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on December 30, 1956, to her late parents Madame Telzie Legros and Monsieur Lecler Gousse.

To know Yveline, is to love her, and to also realize that her true name that embodies her bold and vivacious personality, is Fifi. Yveline was given the name Fifi due to her fierce and colorful nature. To be in the presence of Fifi, is to truly be in the presence of not only beauty, but intelligence, wit, and an unequivocable sense of humor.

Since a young girl in Haiti, Fifi loved to read. She would allow herself to get lost in books bringing her to places she had yet to visit. Before leaving Haiti in 1973, she was a student at Institution du Sacre-Coeur Turgeau. When arriving in the United States, Fifi finished her high school education at Borough Hall Academy in Brooklyn, New York. She then received her nursing degree, and later in life, whilst being a single mother, completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from St. Joseph’s University. Her education and love of service allowed her to work as a registered nurse for over thirty years.

Fifi was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her two boys and embraced every moment with them. She is survived by her two children, who made up the entirety of her world, Yvick and James Legerme, as well as her granddaughter, Yvey Legerme. Besides her children, Fifi is survived by her dearest sister and beloved friend, Colette Legros.

All of her family members, friends, and nurse colleagues, she loved and cherished deeply. May we always remember her as an avid lover of the arts, who also enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures, especially if it was with her kids. Fifi was immensely proud of her family and loved ones, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

While Fifi’s family grieves her transition, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit and love of life, music, fashion, and all forms of art. Please join us in celebrating her life after today’s service at our family’s residence from 2:00pm until Fifi tells you all to go home.

The Gousse, Legros, Wolff, and Legerme families would like to thank each and everyone of you for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult moment. May Fifi’s legacy and spirit continue to live through all of us.
