51-year-old arrested for threats to ‘kill’ Florida deputy during live stream

A Pennsylvania man was arrested this week after allegedly sending threats during a live broadcast of On Patrol: Live on Facebook that he was going to “kill” a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was being featured on the show.

On Wednesday, Jason E. Senseman, 51, was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police on a second-degree felony charge in in Jonestown, Pennsylvania.

According to police, Senseman was watching the television show On Patrol: Live through Facebook when he messaged the social media account associated with the show that he would kill one of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies featured on the show.

Those messages included “I am not scared of killing anyone,” and “some of your officers are worthy of death.” Those messages preceded the threat in which Senseman allegedly stated “I would kill Royce James.”

After the messages were received, On Patrol: Live staff notified VCSO on Sunday, who made contact with law enforcement in Pennsylvania a short time thereafter. The officers in Pennsylvania were aware of the messages and also were familiar with Senseman, according to police.

During an interview with a Pennsylvania state trooper, Senseman indicated that he did send the messages while watching the show. He told the deputy that he was drinking and that no one else had accessed his phone or Facebook account.

Senseman was taken into custody on a second-degree felony charge of making a written threat to a law enforcement official. The charge carries a bond of $100,000. Senseman will be extradited to Volusia County at a later date.

The incident follows several other similar threats and subsequent arrests that have taken place this year.

Tony Stromberg was arrested in June in Calgary, Alberta for making online threats to murder Sheriff Chitwood.

In April, 23-year-old Cristhian Zapata was arrested and extradited from Connecticut after posting “I WILL KILL CHITWOOD, MARK MY WORDS,” on 4Chan, an image board website.

In March, Tyler Meyer, 30, was arrested by the San Diego Police Department at his mother’s home in connection with similar threats made through 4Chan. According to police, Meyer made an anonymous post stating that it was “too bad Mike Chitwood isn’t safe now that I’m planning to kill him.” He went on to say that he was going to “kill him by shooting him to death.”

Just weeks prior, 38-year-old Richard Golden was arrested after allegedly issuing threats through the same website as Meyer and Zapata. Authorities say that Golden wrote the following comment:

“Just shoot Chitwood in the head and he stops being a problem. They have to find a new guy to be the problem…But shooting Chitwood in the head solves an immediate problem permanently. Just shoot Chitwood in the head and murder him.”

Three of the arrested individuals have been extradited to Florida and charged with making a written threat to kill or cause injury. Stromberg is expected to remain in Canada to face his charges and did not require extradition to Volusia County.
