Sharon Michele Anselmo, 56, of Winter Park passed away on May 30, 2022 following a brief illness. Sharon was born in Lancaster, California to Ellen and Thomas Nangle. She grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in 1983. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts and obtained her Master’s degree from the University of Central Florida. Despite spending most of her adulthood in Florida, she remained a diehard fan of the New England Patriots.
Sharon began her accomplished career in government and public service in 1990s working for the state of Florida. She later joined the staff of the city of Maitland where she served for 24 years. She held several positions in the city of Maitland and ultimately served as the City Manager since 2016. Sharon loved the City of Maitland and its residents. She worked tirelessly to upgrade services for the city and took particular pride in improving and expanding public green spaces as well as supporting art and cultural projects. Sharon comes from a family with a strong background in public safety and always worked to improve safety and security for the residents of Maitland. Additionally, Sharon was a calm and steady leader as she guided the city through crises such as hurricanes and the coronavirus pandemic.
Sharon was a quiet and unassuming individual whose ability to give knew no bounds. She was generous with her time and talent. Despite her tireless dedication to the city of Maitland, she also found time to volunteer with local civic organizations. Additionally, Sharon would never hesitate to offer help to family, friends or strangers. Sharon was a lover of all animals and at the time of her passing still owned the cat that was rescued from Maitland City Hall in 2008. Sharon’s greatest joy with the time spent with her grandchildren who will miss their “grammie.” She was the heart of her family and we feel blessed to have enjoyed her quick wit and dry humor.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Nangle. Sharon leaves behind her beloved daughter Shannon Serpilli and husband Giulio, of Winter Springs. The light of her life were her three grandchildren: Luca, Lorenzo, and Gemma. Sharon will be deeply missed by her mother Ellen Nangle of Winter Park, FL; her brother Gary Nangle and wife Joanne of Lowell, MA; and her sister Jennifer Blankenship and husband James of Austin, TX.
