Orlando ranked best Foodie City in America

After coming in second place last year, Orlando took home top honors as the best “Foodie City in America” this year, according to a personal finance company.

On Monday, WalletHub announced its 2023’s Best Foodie Cities in America list, ranking Orlando number one among 182 other cities.

The list took into consideration a series of 28 key indicators to rank cities that “cater to diners who prefer to cook at home, explore the local flavors or both.”

Those factors included affordability, diversity, accessibility, and quality.

According to the list, Orlando tied with a few other cities, including Miami, for having the most restaurants per capita. The city also finished in a four-way tie for most gourmet specialty-food stores per capita. Additionally, Orlando ranked number one in coffee shops and ice cream parlors per capita.

To compile its list, WalletHub says it gathered data from the U.S. Census Bureau, County Health Rankings, TripAdvisor, and Yelp, among other sources.

The top rank follows a year of similar honors doled out to the City Beautiful.

Orlando was one of four cities in Florida, including two in Orange County, that ranked in the top 100 best places to live in the United States.

Earlier this summer, WalletHub ranked Orlando as the best city for summer jobs, the second best city for recreation, and the 40th best place to rent in America. In May, the website named Orlando the best large city in which to start a business. Last year, Orlando was named the second best ‘Foodie City’ in the nation by the website as well.
