Janine Ranelin Lee

Janine Ranelin Lee was born in Steubenville, Ohio on July 1, 1961, to Myron Ranelin, Jr and Betty Ranelin. She was the youngest of three children; Myron Ranelin III, who preceded her in death and Deidra Barker.

Janine graduated from Steubenville High School in 1979 where she was an active member of the Big Red Marching Band. Upon graduating high school, Janine matriculated to The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Art Education degree in 1983. Janine continued her education at Nova Southeastern University and earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership in 1995.

After graduating from college, Janine moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue her career in education and education administration. During her long and illustrious 38-year career, Janine served her community and the school system in several roles. In 2009, Janine returned to her first love, art, teaching AP Art History for Florida Virtual School until her retirement in 2020.

After retirement, Janine continued her work as an educator and as a voice in her community. She enjoyed her role training and mentoring students aspiring to be teachers and was to begin working as an Adjunct Professor at Valencia College. She also found her voice and a loyal following when she produced and hosted a weekly radio program on WPRK (Rollins College), and created her own radio show called “Sunrise Soul with Nina” which brought great joy to her many family, friends and former classmates and bandmates who listened faithfully every week.

A vibrant soul who impacted everyone she met profoundly, Janine leaves to cherish her legacy, two daughters Jasmine Lee and Jerica Anaya (Ariel Anaya), granddaughter Charlene Anaya, sister Deidra Barker (Keith Barker), aunt Jean Hull and a host of other relatives and friends.
