City breaks ground on Parramore Oaks second phase

The city of Orlando broke ground for the second phase of a new, mixed-income housing development coming to Parramore Avenue.

Construction for Phase 2 of Parramore Oaks at the corner of Parramore Avenue and Conley Street is now underway, according to a press release from the city of Orlando’s Public Information Office. The new development is across from Z.L. Riley Park.

According to city officials, Phase 2 of the project will provide an additional 91 affordable housing units to the Parramore community. Each unit will have Energy Star appliances and lighting fixtures, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and a community recycling program.

Future residents will have access to the existing amenities at Parramore Oaks including a computer center, fitness room, children’s activity room, a community meeting room with kitchen and green spaces.

“Every day, we strive to make our city more livable for everyone,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “We are proud of our investment in the Parramore Oaks project and furthering that work to ensure that anyone who wants to live in Orlando can, regardless of their income.”

Thomas C. Chamton, Jr., Executive Director of Downtown’s Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency, said the new development will help revitalize the surrounding neighborhood.

“We all long for a nice place to come home to regardless of income level. Parramore Oaks will assist in fostering community development, revitalization, and further enhancing the surrounding neighborhood,” said Chamton.

The construction of phase 2 is expected to be complete by summer 2023, according to city officials.
