Flag retirement ceremony at Reiter Park

The city of Longwood’s Reiter Park will join thousands others across the United States hosting Flag Retirement Ceremonies to properly dispose of American flags.

The event will take place on Tuesday, June 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the park, which is located at 311 W Warren Avenue in Longwood. During the ceremony, flags that are old, faded, frayed, and torn will be disposed of properly, in a dignified manner, according to event organizers.

June 14 is recognized as National Flag Day in the U.S. The day honors day the national flag and commemorates June 14, 1777, when the first flag design was approved.
