Seventh Haitian Special Olympics soccer athlete declared missing

A seventh Haitian athlete competing in the Special Olympics in Orlando has been declared missing by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, joining six others declared missing earlier this month.

According to OCSO, 25-year-old Louis Jacques Wilguens has been missing since Saturday, June 11, at around 4:30 p.m., when he was observed getting off a bus at the All-Star Sports Resort. He was wearing red sandals, blue jeans, and a white Special Olympics Shirt with Haiti written on it.

Wilguens stands 5’08, weighs 170 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

Police say Wilguens was scheduled to fly back to Haiti on Sunday, June 12, and has not been seen since he got off the bus.

Wilguens joins six other Haitian athletes competing in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games that went missing on Monday.

The six athletes range in age from 18 years old to 32 years old: Antione Joseph Mithon (32), Nicholson Fontilus (20), Peter Mianovich Berlus (19), Anderson Petit-Frere (18), Steevenson Jacquet (24), and Oriol Jean (18).

Six of the men were all last seen at 710 S. Victory Way in Kissimmee on Monday, June 6 at around 2:30 p.m. All of them turned in their room keys and left behind their personal bags and belongings.
