Suspects arrested in killing of 78-year-old man at CVS

Two suspects have been arrested in the killing of a 78-year-old man outside of a CVS in northwest Orlando.

According to law enforcement authorities, police have arrested 19-year-old Javonne Marece White and 25-year-old Jasmine Yvonne Munro in connection with the murder of Uken Cummings.

Cummings was picking up medication and returning to his vehicle in the parking lot of CVS, located at 6217 Silver Star Road.

Police say that White and Munro shot Cummings, stole his keys and vehicle, and ran over his body before fleeing the scene.

White and Munro have both been charged with felony first degree murder with a firearm, as well as carjacking with a firearm.

“Thanks to the unrelenting work of our detectives and deputies, two arrests have been made in the brutal murder of 78-year-old Uken Cummings,” reads a press release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Orange County Sheriff John Mina indicated that Cummings’ family was devastated by the loss.

Cummings, who moved to Central Florida in 2008 after 40 years of service as a New York City hospital police officer, was a father of four and had ten grandchildren. He lost his wife of 54 years only a few months ago.

“The family is reeling over the loss of these two individuals,” said Mina.
