Windermere woman crashes, dies after medical episode on I-4

A Windermere woman was killed after she experienced a medical episode and crashed her vehicle on I-4.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 51-year-old woman experienced a medical episode around 1:55 p.m. today while she was traveling westbound on I-4 near mile marker 114 in Volusia County.

Authorities say the woman’s sport utility vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The woman was transported to AdventHealth Hospital in Orange City where she later died of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, according to law enforcement. As part of FHP policy, the name of the woman has not been released to the public.
