House of Mac closes Orlando location less than 1 year after opening

A macaroni and cheese restaurant that was founded in Miami has just closed down its Orlando location for good, less than one year after it opened last February.

World Famouse House of Mac has permanently closed its location at 2435 S Orange Avenue in Orlando’s South Downtown (SoDo) District.

Although the business had been under construction for nearly a year at the Orlando location, it did not officially open until February 2023.

“Saying goodbye is never easy but today we bid farewell to a place that holds countless unforgettable moments. This journey has been nothing short of incredible and would not be possible without the overwhelming support of this community,” reads a statement issued by the restaurant through social media. “To all of our loyal customers, thank you!”

The business says that its customers can still get a taste of its menu at its new location in Miami (1951 NW 7th Suite 190).

Known for its multitude of macaroni and cheese dishes, House of Mac featured specialty flavors like five cheese truffle, Buffalo chicken, jerk chicken, shrimp, smoked barbecue, and chicken parmesan, among many others.

When it opened, the business was one of several new restaurants that had opened in the SoDo district in the past two years, including Cava, John & John’s Pizza, 4Rivers Smokehouse, and SoDough Square.

With its closure, World Famous House of Mac joins a growing list of businesses that have permanently closed in and around downtown Orlando, including Hungry Pants, which closed down last December after four years in business.

Over the past two years, the downtown area has seen closures by DoveCote, Leo’s Diner, Neon Beach, Ace Café, B Nice Patio Bar, Harry Buffalo, Le Gourmet Break, Earth Fare, and Walgreens, among many others.
