Papa Gio’s forced to temporarily close pizzeria after 45 roaches found in dining room, to-go containers

Papa Gio’s was forced to close its east Orlando pizzeria after a health inspector cited multiple violations, including the presence of nearly four dozen roaches scattered throughout the restaurant.

Located at 16869 East Colonial Drive in the town of Chuluota, the business was forced to temporarily shut down on Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16 after a health inspector from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited nearly a dozen health code violations.

Among the violations were four considered high priority, including the presence of roaches. The report indicates that a total of 45 live roaches were found all around the restaurant, including inside to-go containers and in the dining room.

In addition to roaches, the business was forced to stop sale on multiple items that were kept below the recommended temperature, including pasta, spaghetti, cream, and chicken breast, among others.

Upon the first reinspection on June 16, the business was not permitted to reopen after 10 roaches were found inside a mixer and inside a sauce storage area.

After a third inspection, the business was permitted to reopen later that day.
