Altamonte Springs man wins $1 million from Publix scratch-off

A 43-year-old man claimed a $1 million prize from a scratch-off ticket that he purchased at a Publix in Altamonte Springs.

Dezerick Kirkland claimed the $1 million prize from the $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR Scratch-Off game at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Kirkland, who is from Altamonte Springs, chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

According to a statement issued by the Florida Lottery on February 9, Kirkland purchased the winning ticket at the Publix located at 482 East Altamonte Drive.

The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

Kirkland’s win comes less than two weeks after a Sanford man claimed a $1 million prize from the same scratch-off game.
