3,500-space parking lot serving Orlando airport closes after 20 years in business

The largest off-site parking lot facility serving the Orlando International Airport has closed its doors after a 20-year run due to the cost of operating shuttle busses to and from the business.

Park Bark & Fly officially ended its parking services on February 4, according to a statement issued by the company.

“Park Bark and Fly will be suspending its shuttle service to Orlando International Airport. Parking at this time is closed,” reads the statement.

Located at 6050 S Semoran Boulevard, the business was well-known and highly rated by thousands of visitors from all around the country. The company employed over two dozen drivers who would operate busses between the parking facility and the Orlando International Airport.

Park Bark & Fly was founded by Pete Madison over 20 years ago in January of 2004. At the time, Madison saw value in providing off-site parking that either paralleled or exceeded the consumer experience at the on-site lots, according to a statement from the company’s website.

In recent months, the Orlando International Airport opened new parking lots that have dramatically increased the number of parking spaces available at the facility.

Park Bark & Fly offered a much cheaper alternative to on-site parking at the airport, which can cost anywhere from 5 to 10 times the parking fees charged by the company and several of its competitors.

According to the website, the company will still operate short term and long term RV/boat storage.

Several other low-cost parking facilities are still available in the area, including The Parking Spot and Fast Park, which are located on Hazeltine National Drive and Frontage Road, respectively.
