Aquatica Orlando’s new immersive waterslide opens this week

A new, immersive ride that puts a twist on the classic waterside is opening this week at Aquatica Orlando.

Tassie’s Underwater Twist, the most recent addition for the water park, will officially open at Aquatica on Friday, March 15. Annual pass holders will have the opportunity to preview the ride on Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., before it opens to the public.

“Take the plunge into an incredible aquatic setting just below the surface of the ocean, where the landscape blooms with lush yellow-green seagrass of Australia’s Shark Bay,” reads a statement from the company.

The water reaches depths of three and a half feet, and riders under 48 inches in height will be required to wear a life vest. Additionally, Aquatica states that the maximum operational load for each double tube is 300 pounds for single riders and 400 pounds for double riders.

In 2023, SeaWorld Orlando released a virtual ride-through video of its new penguin-themed roller coaster, Penguin Trek, which is scheduled to open this year.

That roller coaster joins two others that have opened at SeaWorld Orlando since 2022: Pipeline, a surf-style roller coaster that opened in May 2023, and Ice Breaker, a steel roller coaster that opened in February 2022.
