Teen with ‘WILL RUN’ license plate leads police on 145-mph chase on I-4

A teen motorcyclist with a “WILL RUN” license plate was arrested in Sanford on Tuesday night after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of around 145 miles per hour.

The incident began when a deputy attempted to approach a stopped motorcyclist, later identified as 19-year-old Ashtin Jarvis, on foot. Jarvis proceeded to flee from the deputy at a high rate of speed, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

VCSO stated that Jarvis proceeded to taunt and flee from law enforcement officers from multiple agencies. In addition to the sheriff’s office, those agencies included the Port Orange Police Department, New Smyrna Police Department, Ormond Beach Police Department, Edgewater Police Department, and South Daytona Police Department.

All participating law enforcement agencies did not engage in any pursuits of Jarvis, according to the sheriff’s office. Instead, the VCSO Air One unit responded and followed Jarvis from the sky in an effort to “help protect the public from the reckless behavior on our roads.”

Jarvis was arrested on several charges that include fleeing at high speed, reckless driving, and possession of a counterfeit license plate.
