Kissimmee man charged with trying to entice minor for sex

A 57-year-old Kissimmee man was indicted this week for allegedly trying to entice a minor to meet him for sex.

On Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced the return of an indictment charging Rene Bravo with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

According to court documents, in July of 2023, Bravo allegedly began communicating with an undercover law enforcement officer whom he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

Over the next several months, Bravo allegedly sent an “escalating series of graphic messages” that expressed his “sexual interest” in the girl.

The indictment states that in February of 2024, Bravo made plans to meet the girl and take her back to his home for sex. When he arrived at the arranged meeting spot on February 29, 2024, he was met by law enforcement and arrested.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S.  Attorney Richard Varadan.

If convicted, Bravo faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 10 years, up to life, in prison.
