East Orlando Denny’s closed after inspector finds roaches, odor, hair inside pancake batter

A Denny’s in east Orlando was forced to temporarily close its doors last week after a health inspector cited 20 health code violations.

According to a report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the business, which is located at 11915 East Colonial Drive, was forced to shut its doors on Thursday, June 23, after a health code inspector found violations throughout the establishment.

Among those violations was the presence of living and dead roaches. In total, the health inspector counted 39 live roaches, one egg sack, and 12 dead roaches in the restaurant. An additional 21 flying insects were found in kitchen area and an “objectionable odor” permeated throughout the bathroom and “other areas of the establishment,” according to the report.

The health inspector also issued a stop sale on pancakes in the restaurant after finding hair inside the batter.

On the following day, Friday, June 24, a second inspection still turned up eight violations, including more roaches. The restaurant was not permitted to reopen until a third inspection was conducted on that day.
