“We have been playing 80’s New Wave since 1984 and will continue to do so at our new spot, a short 13 minute drive from our present location,” reads a post on the bar’s Facebook page.

According to the post, the business will close its doors at the end of the month.

“We will be here at least until the end of February. Thanks to all of you who have supported us during our 37 year history.”

Barbarella joins a slate of businesses opening and closing their doors all throughout the downtown district.

In May, a new arcade-themed bar has plans to open at the former location of Joysticks, which shuttered its doors amidst the pandemic in 2020 after a multi-year run.

Earlier this week, Orlando City Council commissioners approved over $900,000 in potential performance-based incentives for Home Lending Pal, a new business planning to relocate its headquarters to downtown Orlando.
