Ada Adams O’Neil

Ada Adams O’Neil, age 88, of Sanford, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022. Ada was third generation Sanford and was born on April 2, 1934 to the late William Anderson Adams and Olive Newman Adams. She graduated from Seminole High School and attended Florida State University.

On February 5, 1955, Ada married the love of her life, Robert J. “Bob” O’Neil. She was very active socially with several organizations in Sanford and worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper and in real estate for a short time. Ada and Bob were both avid golfers with memberships at both Mayfair Country Club and Timacuan Golf Club. She won more than a few club championships. Ada was raised at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Sanford and in later years, she and Bob were Charter Members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lake Mary, Florida. Ada and Bob were both very active at St. Peter’s and with Cursillo Retreats. Ada’s favorite place was New Smyrna Beach but she also enjoyed world travel and cruises. Her absolute favorite times were spent at the beach with her loved ones.

Ada is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne O’Neil Gritter, her son-in-law Jack Gritter, grandsons Joshua (and wife Amy), Jordan (and wife Barbara) and Jake Gritter, great-grandsons Jaxson, Gabriel, Asher and Tatum Gritter, and great-granddaughter Hartley Gritter.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on July 15th at 11:00am in Lake Mary, with a casual reception following a short internment service at the church.
