Family, friends mourn 29-year-old man shot, killed on Old Winter Garden Rd

Family and friends are mourning the loss of a 29-year-old Orlando man who was shot and killed on Old Winter Garden Road.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place the evening of Saturday, February 19. Deputies responded to the 6300 block of Old Winter Garden Road where they encountered a man that had been shot.

The victim, 29-year-old Justin Cox, was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.

Cox’s brother, Stephen Cox, held a memorial to honor his brother over the weekend. Friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil in honor of Justin, who would have turned 30 years old on Christmas Day.

“I love you, Justin. Every where I look, I see you bruh,” reads a post from Stephen’s Facebook page.

“Detectives continue to search for leads in this case. This is an active and ongoing investigation, and this is all the information we have for release at this time. We will provide updates as they become available,” reads the release from the sheriff’s office.
